The book describes the history of the Zurichtal colony (modern village Golden Field of the Kirov region of Crimea), which was founded by Swiss immigrants. Using the example of this colony, one can trace the main stages of the foreign colonization of the South of the Russian Empire. Studying the history of this peculiar colony helps to analyze interethnic and interfaith relations, and complex problems of migration policy. The book tells about the formation of the life of the colonists who founded Zurichtal from scratch and turned it into one of the largest villages in the Crimea.
