The collection of articles represents the first in Russian science comprehensive research of the fundamental problem of culture - a ritual of oblation. The authors examine this ceremony in historical, archaeological, ethnographical and other aspects and make an attempt to solve various innovational problems: the time of oblation's origin, forms of its functioning, their reconstruction and interpretation. The work is entirely based on materials of ethnographical researches and archaeological dig, written and artistic monuments.
