Everyone knows Vlad Ledecky, as the mayor from Spisske Hrhov. From a village where Roma work and have a harmonious relationship with the majority. It is not an idyll and the reality can be worse than it seems. However, this book does not say that regional development has some kind of finish line. It is a constant, never-ending process. Vlado showed the world that he is worth working for. He gave a chance for a better life to those who lost it at birth. He gave the majority a chance to work on their prejudices. He gave other municipalities a chance to develop by showing them how he did it in Spissky Hrhov. The most beautiful part of the book is exactly about these chances. However, in its second half, it can be seen that when he was supposed to get a chance to change things "in a big way", to help the regions develop "from above", he encountered disinterest and incompetence. The system is worse than it seems.
