The novel Where Are We? Ljubljana Steganogram is a tangle of stories about Ljubljana. In it, we meet Charles Nodier, Riga Ferejski, Mina Karadzic, Gustav Mahler, Serbian writer Biljana Jovanovic, Bosnian poet Farah Tahirbegovic, and Josip Osti as Medea and Jason. Their voices are a web and a node, an attempt to reconstruct the memory of the city.
The writer enters into a dialogue with historical and intimate characters, through her voice they tell their story, and above all they tell the story of Ljubljana – how they ended up there, how Ljubljana changed them and how they changed Ljubljana. Their memory slowly composes the story of the city, which is the bearer of European history and thought, their knowledge is slowly loaded and assembled into an Argonaut ship, which brings us the story of the “Ljubljana elephant”, the Roman woman in Emona, and the story of Gustav Mahler, Medea and, ultimately, the writer herself.
