The monograph is a comprehensive study of the wedding ceremony of the East Slavic population of the Rostov and Volgograd regions, the territory of which was part of the Don Host Region before the Revolution. For the first time, the Don wedding ceremony is considered in all its diversity of regional variants, their distinctive features and common Don characteristics are described and analyzed, the most complete range of materials on the wedding is involved, with a large corpus of unpublished expedition data becoming the main source. The author has compiled ethnolinguistic maps reflecting the distribution of various elements of the ceremony (linguistic, objective, actional) in the territory of the former Don Host Region, which covered all stages of the wedding ceremony - from matchmaking to the end of the wedding festivities. A consistent comparison of the Don wedding ceremonies with regional wedding traditions of the Eastern Slavs, primarily Russian and Ukrainian, made it possible to identify the specific and typological features of the Don wedding.
