Were there strikes in Czechoslovakia during the period of state socialism? Did the industrial workers of the time agree with the government's policy? Were workers successful in pressing their wage and social demands? And how did their pressure affect the overall social and political reality? The answers will be surprising to many readers. Although industrial workers were among the privileged and loyal sections of society under the dictatorship, they were paradoxically by far the most frequently protesting social group.
