War with the Newts has long been unfolding as a collage of newspaper clippings and other brilliantly parodied accounts of the wonderful Newts who learn to talk, work, behave like humans, lacking only the ability to think creatively. What Capek considered to be the greatest danger to human civilization is gradually revealed behind the seemingly only entertaining and humorous satire on newspaper sensationalism. That is, the effort to make money on everything that promises profit, even if it should bring destruction. Also, the need for most people to make their lives easier, if possible not to work and just enjoy, just have fun and not think anything of what appears to be a threat to all culture and ultimately to the existence of humanity itself.
