This historical novel is about life and struggle of the Uigur people in Western Turkestan in the XIX century. Historical events connected with the rebellion of 1864 lie in the center of the plot. The main character of the story takes humiliating position of the poor people who were constantly disgraced and violently persecuted by the local authorities. The relationship between poor class and ruling class, the fight of the poor for independence and the ambition of the wealthy rulers to seize power are subtly revealed by the author.
