Laureate of numerous literary prizes, Austrian writer, playwright and essayist Josef Haslinger published the novel "Vienna Ball" in 1995 and a year later the screen version of the novel was released. The main character of the book is a journalist, who saw his son's death in live television broadcast, and is now involved in the investigation of the terrible tragedy - destruction of hundreds of people during the annual high society ball in the Vienna Opera. Nowadays, this harsh work by the talented Austrian author is read like a prophecy of such live broadcast tragedies as September 11th, or the takeover and storm of "Nord-Ost".
