The book is devoted to prominent Kazakh historian Ermukhan Bekmakhanov. He was repressed under Stalin, standing accused of “bourgeois nationalism” for his research on the last Kazakh Khan, Kenessary Kassymov, leader of the anti-imperialist uprising of 1837-1847. The memorial was installed on the façade of the house where the well-known scholar worked and lived.
