On the basis of wide documentary material the author traces the history of the Crimea - a region and peninsula of Southern Ukraine on the Black Sea and Sea of Azov. The main attention is paid to the unification of the Crimea with Ukraine in 1918 and to the peninsula's annexation to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1954.
