The monograph summarizes the results of many years of research by the author in the field of Udmurt musical folklore. Relying on a wide range of sources and modern research methods, an attempt is made to reconstruct a holistic picture of the Udmurt musical and song tradition as a historical and cultural phenomenon. For the first time, the influence of historical-geographical, landscape, religious and confessional factors on the formation of the traditional sound ideal, genre system, functioning features and status of tunes has been considered. The ethno-integrating Udmurt song and musical type is modeled and its place in the multi-ethnic musical culture of the Volga-Kama region and the northern region of Eurasia is shown.
