The monograph analyzes the problems of the socio-economic, demographic and socio-cultural history of the largest monastery in Russia in the broad chronological framework of the 15th–18th centuries. The latest research on the topic in Russian and foreign historiography, recent large-scale publications of the most important sources from the archive of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius and its affiliated monasteries are taken into account. The work combines everyday-event, biographical, regional, ethno-confessional, historical-comparative, historical-legal, historical-civil and historical-ecclesiastical approaches.
