Tlumacz - one of many towns that were born of the culture of the former Borderlands - dynamic, multi-ethnic, fruitful, intriguing to us today, although in the past it was often tragic in its course. It is still waiting for historians who would be able to give it a real, multi-colored and multi-dimensional image. And similarly, towns like Tłumacz are waiting for their micro-stories. This book leads us towards the historiography of the former Borderlands that we need. Taking into account the co-creation of the history of those places by people of different identities - Ruthenians, Poles, Armenians, Jews, Germans, Austrians, Ukrainians. Showing the alternation and passing of historical phases, created by the statehoods of Russia, the Polish Kingdom, Austria (in the form of its province of Galicia, connected with the mythical Lodomeria), modern Poland (interwar years), up to the dramatic destruction of the Second World War.
