The book makes an attempt to reconstruct the complete picture of the translation activity in Ancient Rus. The study contains the overview of the translated texts (about 30), dated the XIth – XIIIth centuries. The most detailed analysis is provided for the translations from the Greek and Jewish languages. The study reveals the linguistic characteristics of the translated texts; on the basis of which Slavic translations, containing lexical Russisms, are divided into particular groups. The book substantiates the existence of several translation trends in Ancient Rus.
