“Nikolai Turlakov’s monograph “Tragediia i avtentichnost. Filosofskite intuitsii za smisula na bitieto v khudozhestvenoto tvorchestvo na Iordan Iovkov” (“Tragedy and Authenticity. The Philosophical Intuitions about the Point of Life in Iordan Iovkov’s Works”) presents a philosophical-existential reading which search in the works of the prominent Bulgarian classical writer Iordan Iovkov the leading motive of an authentic understanding about these two most comprehensive and deepest dimensions of the human’s life – the tragedy and the authenticity. The author traces the phenomena of the tragedy, of the hope (in the light of hope-with-God and hope-without-God), of the jointness, of the empathy, of the freedom, of the creation of a meanings and of the authenticity in textbook works such as “Drugoselets”, “Serafim”, “Posledna radost”, “Pesenta na koleletata” etc. The Nikolai Turlakov’s book is an event for the modern humanity studies in Bulgaria not just because it demonstrates the fruitfulness of the philosophical reflectivity but also it is because it shows the primordial household affinity of the Bulgarian language.” – Prof. Dimitur Tsatsov.
