The work studies mechanisms of contacting of toponymic systems of the Svir' Region where active Baltic-Finno-Russian, Veps-Karelian, Baltic-Finno-Saami interactions took place during different chronological periods. The author reveals basic parameters, essential for the character of contact relations, concurrently reconstructs a range of lost Veps lexemes and particular phonetic peculiarities of pre-Veps toponymy, offers new etymologies of ancient Saami toponymic stems of the Onega Area.
