The epic novel in two books "Time of Troubles", created in 1980-1982 by the prose writer, publicist, translator, researcher of the Kazakh folklore heritage Mukhtar Magauin, tells about the events of the late 16th and early 18th centuries in the Kazakh steppe and Muscovy, about the first attempts to establish friendly relations between two peoples. In 1594, the first embassy from the Kazakh steppes arrived in Moscow. The mediators were Sultan Oraz-Mukhamed and a remarkable scientist, thinker Kadyrgali Zhalair. Their mission and the amazing fate of Oraz-Muhamed, who participated in the campaigns of the Russian army against the Swedes and Crimean Tatars and was granted the Kasimov Khanate by Boris Godunov, is dedicated to the first book of the dilogy.
