The research is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian-Tibet relations. The author narrates about the first religious contacts in the XVIIIth century, analyzes the most active phases of the political dialogue of the Russian Empire and the young Soviet republic with Tibet, and then dwells on Tibet policy towards the USSR and the Russian Federation in the second half of the XXth century and today. The author resorts to unique archives of the Russian Federation.
