The monograph is devoted to the study of the opera house in the context of the development of modern European musical culture. The three chapters of the study focus on three different angles of the issue: the first analyzes the intonation crisis of the turn of the 16th - the 17th centuries, when the intonation image of the world was formed, which determined the configuration of modern European music. The second chapter is devoted to opera in the culture of modern Europe: its role and place, origins and transformation from an aristocratic entertainment to a creative industry. In two essays of the third chapter the opera house is considered as an infrastructural formation.
