This book provides an extensive review of the initial stage of formation of the multinational Russian state. It describes how during the XV-XVIIth centuries the Russian nations perceived the supreme power, how they interpreted their Russian nationality, what they thought about the monarch’s functions and prerogatives, as well as about the limits of subordination to him, how the residence in the Moscow State and the Russian Empire was interpreted in their consciousness and ideas, and how it concentrated in the image of the Russian “white tsar”.
