The monograph of the famous Russian demographer V.M.Kabuzan (1932-2008) is devoted to the development of ethnic and confession relations on the Russian territory in the XVIIth – early the XXth centuries. Demographic changes, growth of population of the nations that lived in the country, their religious belief are studied. The main material for the study was the church and police population registration, population census data of 1897.
