Yuri Mushketyk (1929-2019) wrote a book of memoirs about the defining events of his bright and extraordinary life in different years. He mentions a time that is radically different from the current one, but at the same time he is sensitive to the rhythms of life at that time, changes in society, literature, and the worldview of man himself. The first section contains memories of childhood, school and student years. The second is dedicated to the work of Yu. Mushketyk as the editor-in-chief of the Dnipro magazine, and later to the chairman of the Writers' Union of Ukraine. In it, the writer describes his first steps in the literary field, collaboration with many prominent, such as M. Rylsky, O. Gonchar, I. Drach, etc., and lesser-known authors, evaluates their work, purely human traits, highlights the tragic and comic events from the life of the writing community. The last section is separate descriptions, sketches, remarks, considerations from various spheres of life and beautiful writing. The publication includes the last story by Yu. Mushketyk "Unfinished Song (Marusya Churai)". The book of memoirs will give a deeper understanding of the author's image and the essence of Yu. Mushketyk's works, the literary process and censorship of that time, will become for readers, especially young ones, a slice of the day.
