The title is devoted to the history of medieval Pskov, one of the big military-political and economic centers of Russia in the XVth - the XVIIth cc., and of the Pskov Region. The author examines the structure of local society and the influence of state politics on its evolution, using different sources, including archival materials. Special attention is paid to everyday life of citizens, serving people and peasants, as well as to bright events of the XVIIth c. - smuta and the insurrection of 1650. The edition contains maps, illustrations, a name index and a terminological dictionary.
