The purpose of this collective monograph is to present a new view of certain specific manifestations of the Franciscan (Christian, European, Western) existence. Conscious and bold geopolitical, religious, intellectual and military relations and contacts and "otherness" are the basic component of European identity. A special role in the history of European contacts with other cultures was played by the Franciscans.
