The nun Magdalena (Noskova) was the treasurer of the Isakov hermitage, a nunnery in the Yaroslavl province. Her letters describe not only the inner life of the monastery in 1900-1921, but also the details of the author's stay in the Sokhotsky Sevastian and Rybinsk Sophia monasteries at the end of the 19th century.
