The monograph is devoted to the study of factors of development of resource industries of the Far East (mineral and forest complexes), which are sectors of its national specialization, and evaluation of their role in the regional economy. Discussed are the structural and dynamic characteristics of the natural resource sector of the macroregion in the 1990s–2020s, including the stage of modern crises. The post-2014 period is presented in most detail: the authors demonstrate the genesis of instruments and results of implementing the "new policy" of state stimulation of advanced development in the Far East, examine the responses of resource industries to institutional and economic innovations, and identify the effects and specifics of their implementation in the resource region. Analyzed is the methodological and practical experience in researching and assessing the role of resource projects in regional development and identifying their effects on the economy of the Far East. The practice of formation of mineral resource specialization in a previously diversified economy (on the example of the Jewish Autonomous Region), new to the macroregion, has been studied, and experimental forecast estimates of the structure and dynamics of its development within the framework of various resource alternatives have been obtained. Examined are the prospects of the natural resource sector of the Far Eastern Federal District, determined by the state strategic documents of the national and regional level, and the results and the available potential of technological modernization of the macroregion's resource industries.
