The book won the PUBLISHING UNDERTAKING OF THE YEAR award at the Herceg Novi Book Fair.
The Vinca culture, named after Vinca near Belgrade, discovered at the beginning of the 20th century, proved to be a very significant Neolithic culture, widespread not only in the Balkans but also throughout Europe.
Numerous sites were later found in other locations in Serbia. The figures of people and animals, presented in M. Stojic's monograph, are at the same time astonishing artistic achievements and exhibits of material culture that open the way to understanding the spiritual life of their creators.
Stojic analyzes the illustrations of the material in the manner of a good archaeological essay, interesting to the professional public but also to the ordinary reader, delving into the documented issue of faith, the cult of the Sun, the Moon, fertility, and sacred rites.
