This is the first edition of Vladimir Nabokov’s translation of “The Lay of Igor's Raid” issued for the Russian-speaking reader. The translation opens with V.Nabokov’s foreword and ends with comments where the author-researcher suggests an original approach to the unfading ancient literature monument. The article by V.Stark tells the story about creation of this unique piece of work. Another article by N.Zhutovskaya is devoted to peculiarities of Nabokov’s translation. She also translated Nabokov’s foreword and comments into Russian. Along with the English text of Nabokov’s translation the edition contains Old Rusian illustrated text reproduced for the first time form rarity German edition of 1923.
