The main character of the novel, Emmanuel, has dreamed of being a writer for as long as he can remember. He is diligently looking for his topic, his muse, his place in world literature, but he has a whole bunch of reasons that do not contribute to the creative process. At the moment when Emmy is almost no longer pained by his impossible dream, he gets into a mysterious organization called "Union of Forgotten Writers", whose members are unknown writers - uninteresting once and forgotten now.
