This is a translation of the English monograph The Imaginative World of Georgia Narbut and the Making of a Ukrainian Brand, published by Rodovod in 1920 in collaboration with the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art.
Today, one hundred years after the death of Georgy Narbut, the outstanding artistic nature of the artist can finally take a worthy place in the modern ethos of the new Ukraine. When Ukraine's future remains uncertain and Ukraine's identity as a state is constantly under threat, a retrospective look at Narbut's national branding is more relevant than ever, as it addresses the pressing question: what is modern Ukrainian culture and who are modern Ukrainians? And what is the branding of modern Ukraine? And how does it affect the perception of Ukraine in the world?
The study examines the creation of the Ukrainian brand over the last century - from George Narbut, his students and followers, artists of independent Ukraine.
