This collective monograph is a continuation of a series of publications of fundamental works on the history of North-East China (Manchuria). The research materials cover the period of in-depth transformations
of traditional structures of Chinese society, which took place during the period of Deng Xiaoping’s reforms (1979—1999), when market relations were actively introduced into the economic complex of the region and the society adapted to the new economic realities. At that time, borders were
