The book offers a look at Volgograd, its character and its history through the prism of art. Based on the collection of the Volgograd Museum of Fine Arts. named after I.I. Mashkov examines the issues of artists’ perception of architecture, history, nature, and everyday life of the city from the 1940s of the 20th century to the present day. The issues of the relationship between "genius and place", the specifics of Volgograd artistic life and its evolution are touched upon.
