The present book is the most complete work, which shows us the diversity of the book heritage. The author - prof. Kujo Kuev, is one of the prominent researchers of Old Bulgarian literature, and his study is based on ten years of work in archives and libraries in 6 countries. The pages include popular written books such as "The Four Evangelists of Emperor Ivan Alexander", as well as no less significant, but comparatively less well-known manuscripts such as "The Asemanievoto Evangelie" and "Supraslskiya sbornik".
Undoubtedly, the Bulgarian medieval manuscripts are an extremely important historical source. Some have reached us only in transcripts, and dozens of others were purposefully destroyed or killed at the time, which makes their research a real challenge for every scientist. Beginning 40 years after his last published research on prof. Kuev is once again available to a wide audience. The special feature of this edition is the translation of the Old Bulgarian notes cited in the text, which is being made for the first time.
