The notion “national competitiveness” includes several aspects of national development, namely, economy, management, education, science, and culture that are represented by federal and local governments, academic and educational institutions, and enterprises. It is also connected with the problem of allocation of resources in the geographical space and their use within the international division of labor. The presented study of national competitiveness rests at the intersection of macroeconomics, microeconomics, regional economics, economic geography, and partly social studies.
