The fifth book from a series of monographs of the project `Tanks on the March`, based on extensive material from open archival funds and literary sources, tells about the beginning of the design, construction, testing and the further fate of domestic tanks A-32 and A-20, as well as the birth of the first in the world of the V-2 tank diesel engine. In addition, a brief description of the military-political situation around the Soviet Union is given, as a result of which I.V. Stalin had already, at least by the end of 1938, made a well-founded conclusion about the actual resumption of the imperialist world war, the inevitability of the USSR being drawn into it and the need to prepare the country and the army for this war. A new topic for reflection awaits readers, and a short story based on the memoirs of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. The narration is accompanied by numerous photographs, tables (including unique ones), drawings and diagrams, some of which are published for the first time.
