This book presents a collection of the resumes, speeches, documents, articles, letters of the first president of the Independent Latvian Republic Janis Chakste (1859-1927). Since 1918 till 1920 he was the head of Peoples Soviet, since 1920 till 1922 - the chairman of Constitutional Assembly and, finally, since 1922 - the president of Latvian Republic.
