The book represents a considerable experience of theory formation of symbol that is viewed as a category of self-reflexion and essential part of phenomenology of culture. Representing deep, and often subconscious, layers of human psyche, symbol becomes a significant part of self-knowledge of people and society in general, and, finally, the form of cultural and national identity. The monograph aims to establish a theoretical model of symbol and its social-cultural classification.
