The Petersburg writer Samuil Lurie is one of the best Russian essayists. His new book is like a well-done patchwork from several selected works and separate literary themes, a panorama from many-colored fragments of literature from different epochs. His opinion on literature is specific: it is rather an opinion of a critic dependent on the poetics of post-modernism and not recognizing personal authorities of classics.
