The book is written in the genre of travel notes, which assume the author's narration or description, usually accompanied by reasoning. It tells about the Barkolabovsky Holy Ascension Convent. Founded in 1641 by Bohdan Stetkevich and Ioil Trutsevich, for almost 380 years it was one of the strongholds of Orthodoxy in the Northwest Territory. In the twentieth century, the atheistic government tried to destroy the monastery, destroying temples and all buildings. But the main shrine remained, preserved for posterity by the nuns - the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, called "Barkolabovskaya". In 2008, through the efforts of the schema-abode Anthony (Poluyanova) and Archpriest Alexander Poluyanov, the ancient monastery was revived from an almost empty place, delighting everyone with its beauty, strengthening spirituality and morality in people, healing soul and body.
Notes are written in good literary language. The author has divided the story into 15 small chapters, which provide a brief historical information about the Barkolabovsky Holy Ascension Convent and extracts from historical documents. Separate chapters are devoted to the Barkolabovskaya icon of the Mother of God, in which both the history of the image itself is sanctified, and examples of healing through prayers in front of her are given. The given data allow the reader to get acquainted with the main dates in the history of the monastery.
