It is the first original investigation conducted in Russia, which dwells upon the activities of Soviet foreign secret service in China in the 1930’s through the work of Comintern, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff (GRU) and the State Political Directorate (OGPU). The author uses extensively the materials and documents from the archives of Comintern, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign secret service, as well as the memories of soviet and foreign participants in those events.
