The present collection was published on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of establishing of diplomatic relations between Russia and the USA. It is dedicated to one of the key periods in the history of relationship between the two nations. The edition covers the period of 1969-1976. It is supposed to consist of two volumes (in four books). The present volume includes documents for the years 1969-1972. The collection comprises some soviet and American documents, which had not been published before. They concern the direct contacts of the USSR and USA leaders including those, through the private channel. Most of the documents represent records of the discussions between A.F.Dobrynin, the USSR ambassador in the USA, and G.Kissinger, the USA National Security Advisor. They connected the Kremlin and the White House through that channel. The collection is supplied with photo-documents.
