Sofia Gubaidulina (b. 1931) is a Russian composer. Laureate of the State Prize of Russia (1992), the Japan Imperial Prize (1998), the Sonning Prize of Denmark (1999), the Polar Music Prize of Sweden (2002), the "Living Composer" Prize of the Cannes Festival of Classical Music (2003), the Russian Triumf Prize in the Field of Culture (2007), and the Golden Lion for outstanding achievements in music at the Venice Biennale.
