The author of the book, Valentina Logacheva (Shumova), is the daughter of the commander of the legendary mortar crew of the Shumov brothers, who glorified their small homeland, the Tuvan People's Republic, and the Soviet mortar gun with a record rate of fire and accuracy. The publication is also unique because it is the first and so far the only biography of the large Shumov family since their resettlement to Tuva.
