One hundred and five years from the Congress of Vienna to the signing of the Trianon Peace Treaty can safely be called the Slovak Century. The nation, which was predicted to perish, had much more inner energy and abilities than it seemed at first glance. Even in the harsh conditions that prevailed in the monarchy, it managed to wake up, shake off the shackles of slavery and embark on the path to a new life. Over the course of one hundred and five years, the Slovaks managed to rise culturally, strengthen their language and spirituality, and develop economically. In doing so, they had to undergo many struggles for bare existence with representatives of other nations, as well as among themselves, they lost many lives and shed much blood for the interests of foreigners. But in the end, they proved that the Slovaks rightfully deserve a place in the family of modern European nations.
