The book is devoted to the outstanding historian, philosopher, literary critic and public figure of the middle of XIX century Ianuarii Mikhailovich Neverov. He was closely acquainted with Gertsen and Belinskii, Turgenev and Koltsov and became widely known with his works on history of Russian literature in 40-50-s of XIX c. The appendix contains Neverov's work "Look at the history of Russian literature" (1840).
