The district of Silute is situated in the west of the Republic of Lithuania. It is famous for its history and unique nature as well as its specific fishing traditions, ancient architecture and its prominent people. This book is a combination of a universal regional encyclopedia and an encyclopedic dictionary devoted to this land. The compilation of it is a result of three-years' work done by fourteen specialists of the F.Bajoraitis public library, six members of the editorial board and one hundred guest authors.
