Mykhailo Kotsiubinskyi wrote the story "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" under the impression of his stay in Hutsul Oblast in 1911.
The publishing house "Brusturi" (Discursus) presents a new edition of the work. Its peculiarity is the preservation of the author's vocabulary, reflected in contemporary editions, which in later editions underwent editorial corrections. According to the same contemporary edition of 1913, the spelling of the name with the letter "y" in the word "tiny" is given. Thus, we want to reproduce the author's intention to show the Hutsul region as much as possible not only through the plot and descriptions of life and customs, but also through the language.
