Graduated from the Faculty of History at Grodno State University. He defended his PhD dissertation on "Fortifications of the 10th-13th centuries of the Belarusian Empire" (1994) and his doctoral dissertation on "The development of the Belarusian fortification system (1772-1941)" (2009). He is the Head of the Department of Belarusian History, Archaeology, and Special Historical Disciplines at Grodno State University. In 2009, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus appointed him the scientific director of the historical and cultural heritage site "Fortifications of the 68th Grodno Fortified Region (1940-1941) in the Augustow Canal Zone in the Grodno Region." Research interests: medieval archeology and history, history of fortifications, military archeology and history of Belarus, history of the peoples of Belarus, history and culture of Eastern European Jews. Participant in 120 academic conferences in Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, and Poland. Author of approximately 150 scientific papers.
