Lyudmyla Starytska-Cherniakhivska was a prominent Ukrainian writer, playwright, translator, publicist, and public figure. She made a significant contribution to the development of the Ukrainian literature and culture at the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries.
Few modern readers know about her life and work, as the Soviet regime not only tried to destroy memories of her, but also physically exterminated her and her daughter Veronika Cherniakhivska.
